1st day of school for the boys

I don't know if it's just that they were SO exceedingly bored during the summer, if it's because they have a highly emotional pregnant ornery mom, or if they were just ready to see friends again....but MAN were they excited to start school this year!  They were BOTH up by 6am - and school doesn't start until 8 and 9.  Jax was so bored!  Poor thing!  They both received a fathers blessing to start out their year - LOVE that!  It was fantastic to sit and chat with both of them about how their 1st day went.  They both have friends in their classes, and so far they like all of their teachers.  Maddie had her kindergarten assessment test yesterday and did really well - we have been practicing for some time.  I hope she will be more patient and learn better for someone else than she does for me!  She refuses to learn the lower case letters because she ALREADY knows her abc's!!  (sigh)  That's how Jax was too - and he is doing great.  Pierce was a little reluctant to admit that there are cute girls in most of his classes....silly kid!  I'm really trying to keep the communication about those kind of things open with him...and to help him know that in 8th grade its perfectly NORMAL to think that girls are cute!  Little Donavan asked all day long where his brothers went.  I'm really worried about when Mads starts....good thing it'll only be for 1/2 a day!!

It's a.........

We were able to get our ultrasound done yesterday...great news is that the baby is very healthy and already in the 70% for growth :).  We had a reveal party for the kidlets - I made a white cake and added the correct color dye and then frosted it with chocolate frosting and decorated it in white icing.  Then we blew up pink and blue balloons and had them all over the floor.  We had the kids close their eyes, Trent cut a piece of cake and placed it into Maddie's hands.  Then on the count of 3 they were able to open their eyes to see what color the cake was....

After a long chat with Maddie about how special she is - and how she'll never have to share ANYTHING - (including her special daddy/princess relationship) she is okay with it.  We are going to go shopping today and let her pick out a few things for the baby so that she is more excited.  Donsters, Pierce, and Jax are thrilled that they will be having another brother...well, we think Donsters is - turns out that he thought the cake was called a boy and he really wanted some ;)

Wigglie, jigglie little one :)

I've been able to feel the baby moving for about 3 weeks now (since about week 14...which is early if it is your 1st - but with this one being my 5th I knew what I was feeling.)  This little one sure seems to do a lot of cartwheels and kicking and as usual was being a busy bee last night.  I mentioned it to Trent (like I usually do) but then thought that it wouldn't hurt to see if he could feel the kicking too.  Normally you can't feel the baby from the outside for several more weeks....but I am thinner and my uterus and stomach muscles are more relaxed so why not?  And wouldn't you know it....HE FELT IT!!  :)  It is SO exciting to be able to share something like this with him.  It helps him feel closer to the baby and a part of the pregnancy.  I love feeling the baby move - its something that I miss almost the moment my babies are born.  I'm excited for when the kids will be able to feel it too.  I have my ultrasound in a week....Piercen still doesn't want to know what it is, and Trent wants to know for sure.  I'm sure Trent will win out in the end - so I'm planning a special gender reveal party for the kids.  I'm going to bake a cake and put in the correct color of food dye (pink or blue) and then frost it in chocolate.  The kids will be in school so they won't know until it is time to cut into the cake to find out.  Hopefully everyone will be happy (I've got one who wants nothing but a sister, and another who would rather die than have another sister......I'm sure it'll all work out by the time the baby gets here - I hope!!  )
